Every Student I've Taught at NSCAD University (2004-2007)show description

The Every Student I’ve taught at NSCAD University (2004-2007) is an ongoing project illustrating my own taxophilic compulsion as related to my teaching experience. Organized chronologically from the earliest class to most recently taught, and then further organized alphabetically by surname within each class, I am interested in the phenomenon of the algorithm...that is, what can happen when an arbitrarily chosen set of rules are applied to a given subject matter in a rigourous way. Of course every student I’ve taught at NSCAD University is not an arbitrarily chosen subject-I’ve had extended, meaningful interactions with each person I’ve crossed paths with at NSCAD University. In fact, I’m finding the separation between my art and pedagogical practices more and more difficult to differentiate as time progresses.
